My grandparents were married for 65 years. A little over a year ago we lost my grandmother. That was the first close family member to pass away. It was extremely hard for my grandfather as one could imagine. 65 years with one person, I can’t even imagine. I’m 24 years and I don’t even have a girlfriend, my sister I think has finally found a good guy and I’m extremely happy for that because she deserves it. It’s very important to share life and it many experiences with someone else.
My grandfather started a scholarship in my grandmothers name for the nurses in the nursing home to further their education. There was a piece of art painted for the dinning hall with her name attached to it with the scholarship recipients on a plack next to it. I went take a picture of the plack and artwork and thats was plain boring. I had my grandfather stand next to the piece of art and the plack. He didn’t want to be in the photo but after kinda forcing him, he finally went over. Getting him to smile was another issue, we told him a joke and that sparked a smile in his face.
Sunday evening I received a call from my grandfather about the photo. He was so happy on how well the photo turned out. He was crying on the other end of the phone. I can only imagine how many great memories came back to him about his wonderful marriage with my grandmother. He requested more prints so he could send it to more people.
